‘Intermediate score’ proxy war in Ukraine

(In Nederlands)

Just a few comments on this tragic proxy war that could have been prevented if too many had not gullibly and foolishly bought it…again…
Besides the again very active collaborators…again …

Yes…war is terrible and dirty and intense and traumatic. Except for psychopaths it is enjoyable for very few, despite the smiles and cheers on some videos and photos. And yes, war crimes are committed…far too many. By these psychopaths, but also by ordinary soldiers and armed civilians who go crazy in these intense circumstances. No excuses, but the image of a frische fröhliche Krieg is only propaganda by and for gullible people.

No, Russia did not want to conquer Kiev or kidnap President Zelensky with the first attack. It could not do so with the number of troops deployed. The aim with this quick in-depth attack and attacks on the border and from ‘Donbass’ was to force a quick peace settlement…of course under conditions favourable to Russia…and thus prevent further warfare. It seemed to work for a while, but the Ukrainian government Zelensky allowed itself…just like the governments during the civil wars in the former Yugoslavia and especially Bosnia…to be seduced by especially the American promises to reject that and to continue fighting. The Russians persisted for a while…promised and threatened some more…but eventually withdrew again. Russia, Putin and team visibly disappointed and deeply frustrated…especially by American-British subversion again and EU docility in this…again. Which was of course propagandistically exploited to the maximum being a painful Russian defeat. Unfortunately also by too many of my colleagues (for many of them after all ‘he who pays the piper calls the tune’). More critical comments were mostly absent.

The strategy that Putin’s Russia subsequently chose is, in many respects and according to the circumstances that they have to reckon with and that they still hope for and want to achieve, logical and ‘smart’. With all the mistakes, misdeeds and failures that come with it. And how long this proxy war is going to last as a result. With adverse consequences again…such as Finland and Sweden’s foolish NATO membership. And as far as you can speak of ‘smart’ in a nasty deadly proxy war like this. A conflict and proxy war with…just like Afghanistan and especially Iraq…again destructive and disastrous consequences for involved country(s), region and also the world. But I already explained that the real instigators of also this project, larger conflict against Russia…and against the EU(!!)…and this proxy war in Ukraine, the US and the UK and collaborating and gullible other governments and supporters, were and are not really bothered by it.

So, I can explain and set out why this Russian strategy is now logical and ‘smart’. But in doing so, I am playing into the hands of the real instigators and their loyal collaborators and gullible believers here. And although I…see my disclaimer…am not a fanboy of Putin’s Russia or dictatorships in general, I also do not wish to help these egocentric malicious nationalist instigators of this…again…destructive and disastrous war…which has shattered the European dream and is rendering the EU brain death…to succeed in their project and malicious intent. The sooner they…as in Afghanistan and Iraq…lose again the ‘less bad’ for us Europe and the world. So I keep this analysis to myself and will at most share it with those who I trust and who share my critical view and opinion in this matter. And I watch with a mix of sadness, pain, disappointment but also cynical gloating and bewilderment at so much gullibility and stupidity how this tragic conflict develops. It took 20 years with Srebrenica and Afghanistan before my (unfortunately!!) right was proved…I hope that this time it will be much sooner. Better for the (still to come) victims, for the world, better for us Europeans…

And the these days so needed disclaimer

What Putin thinks about when talking about neo-Nazis and ‘denazification’ in Ukraine…

(In het Nederlands)

What Putin thinks about when talking about neo-Nazis and ‘denazification’ in Ukraine now with the military invasion and operations. Including of course a hefty dot of propaganda exaggeration : (link mainly English sites, has more info on it)

  • The Azov Battalion is a Ukrainian right-wing extremist nationalist militia founded in May 2014, which is part of the Ukrainian National Guard.
  • Ultra-nationalists and neo-Nazis who are… unfortunately… were given too much space on stages and for that of the genuine protests and demonstrations on Euromaidan. Which, however, was used and abused for many other, less fresh and sincere, agendas.
  • Who were involved in the coup in 2014 and government formation afterwards. See also Nuland tapes. Nuland who by the way not only in 2014 but also now under Biden plays an important role around Ukraine and Russia conflict…
  • The very controversial Stepan Bandera (a.o. for involvement in the mass murders of the Polish and Jewish Ukrainian people), who was reinstated by the ‘Orange Revolution’ (where the Americans were also very active and determined by clever strategy and means!) President Viktor Yushchenko and appointed ‘Hero of Ukraine’. Was immediately undone in 2011, notoriously by disputed Victor Yanukovych, the president who fled and was deposed after the coup in 2014.

Of course, not all the time and everywhere so strong and influential. Certainly not in politics and parliament. And enough Ukrainian politicians who distance themselves from it. And propagandistically, of course, firmly reinforced by now rather distrustful Russia and Putin, who see the hand of the US everywhere by now. Often correct, but not always. But still a less pretty picture than even our own media is now painting in response to Russia’s accusations and describing it in remarkably mild terms, suggesting that it is mostly disinformation. Which I find perhaps even more worrying (also for the state of our system, but that is another subject). But not surprising given the again skilfully whipped up mass hysteria and anti-Russia and especially anti-Putin smear campaign now via the helpful and/or gullible (social) media. And it is easy to guess who is closely involved in this…again…😠😔😖

So You really think that if…

(In het Nederlands)

In these days of…again…”Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.” the so needed Disclaimer

So You really think that if tens of thousands of dead and wounded were considered acceptable (“We are so sorry for you loss”) in their projects in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2001 and 2003 onwards from their nationalist self-centred doctrines…

Project 2 uuhh 1 – After the very painful 9/11 surprise. The Bush administration, which had just taken office, was already busy with Iraq and neglected the clear warnings. While many experts suggested bombing, it became Project 1 of the Bush Doctrine..forced regime change and occupation to bring democracy American Style. Would have welcomed the Afghans just like the Germans and Japanese with open arms.

The Taliban were primitive barbarians, still living in the stone age and as diabolical as their Al Qaeda cronies and their leader Osama Bin Laden! 20 years of American and Western military power, including NATO, just like during the Russian occupation earlier, could not break the Afghan resistance. Also because many more Afghans supported them than was claimed..and really not all of them were forced..but because they did not want democracy and progressive frivolous freedoms (yet). At least not forced upon them by.. (mostly Christian).. foreigners.. again. The Taliban is back in power after a debacle of a retreat..and there are now talks and negotiations with “those barbarians”…

Project 1 uuhh 2 – After the apparently easy and successful start at project 2..uuhh 1.. in Afghanistan.. that would be all right!!..the critics were all wrong!!.. did the Bush administration go after all quickly back to work planning for their original main project of their Bushdoctrine.. forced regime change and occupation of Iraq. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair, anti-EU-skeptical(!!), who has become enthusiastic about Afghanistan and (nationalistically) realised the greatness of also his country Great Britain besides his important, god-given, role in the fight of Christian good against evil…Islam uuhh Terror!!… was happy to participate now.

Because that devilish psychopath Saddam Hussein, from ally, to (misled) conqueror in 1990/1991 evil occupation of ally Kuwait!! That had already been severely punished then.. but not finished by father Bush (the dumbass!! because after that almost killed by order of Hussein.. they said). That cruelty troublemaker, defying Americans and their power and allies in the Gulf now really needed to be eliminated. And the Iraqi people, like Germany and Japan in WW2, would be gratefully liberated and propelled in the development of peoples, like the Afghans, under inspiring American-British leadership. Possibly next projects the equally evil regimes in Syria and Iran. Democracy in the region, peace…and ally Israel happy. Could he give the Palestinians something with freedom and rights…or not…also well…Jordan, after all, already the Palestinian state. President Bush, now somewhat less inexperienced, decided after the eventual dramatic development in Iraq and disappointing in Afghanistan to abandon these new projects. His government and policy were therefore changed in the second period.

However, the criticism and protests against this new-old project 1 uuhh 2 were unprecedentedly fierce, large, widely shared… even large groups of former soldiers and politicians wrote protest letters. People warned that a Pandora’s box was about to be opened in the region. But they did not listen in Washington and London and friendly capitals. After all, there was now fait accompli evidence that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and, according to Blair, he would be able to fire many missiles at Europe at any moment and in a short time! That this was all self-fabricated evidence and lies many already understood but heard most only later during the investigations after this debacle.

So the green light was given. Supported by many Western and European governments (including actively by the Polish…and politically supported by the Dutch). The once again enormous military build-up in the still friendly Gulf states. Which presence of so many American/western/Christian military in the core country of Islam Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War in 1991 radicalised Osama Bin Laden and made him found Al Qaeda..you know of 9/11 attack and reason for project 2 uuhh 1. Thousands of Iraqi soldiers were literally buried in their trenches or roasted in their tanks.

The Iraqi people, however, did not take to the streets en masse. That was already a worrying omen and had been warned about beforehand. The weapons of mass destruction were not found..despite everything being double-edged. Saddam Hussein, however, was eventually found like a weasel in a hole, his sons having already been killed in battle. Going down fighting is not his thing as a great Arab ruler, but he did go down screaming and cursing on the gallows. Would Bush and Blair have done the same or pissed their trousers? What seemed to be a success soon became a great tragic drama. Pandora’s box had indeed been opened in Iraq and in the region, even in nearby continents and in the world…with consequences also in European streets, cafes and theatres.

So you really think that if tens of thousands of dead and wounded were considered acceptable (“We are so sorry for you loss”) in their projects in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2001 and 2003 onwards from their nationalist self-centred doctrines…it became hundreds of thousands dead and wounded…

…and millions of displaced people and refugees…also towards the EU, civil wars in Syria and Libya, failed states, the bloody collapse of the Arab democratic spring in Egypt, the rise of IS, genocide Yazidis and many bloody terror attacks in the world…also the EU, even more big-brother-like measures to prevent them, eliminating the IS in bloody battle, flaring up nuclear weapons problems in Iran and North Korea (who felt even more threatened by the forced regime changes and occupations in Afghanistan and Iraq), economic misery, even more loss of credibility in our democratic system and therefore also growth of religious radicalism elsewhere and extremism and conspiracy thinking here, more assertive steps by countries such as China, Turkey and Russia, and so on… and then I probably forgot a lot of things still…

So you really think that if tens of thousands of dead and wounded were considered acceptable (“We are so sorry for you loss”) in their projects in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2001 and 2003 onwards from their nationalist self-centred doctrines…it became hundreds of thousands dead and wounded and millions of displaced people and refugees…that those few thousand dead and wounded Ukrainians and Russians and tens of thousands…already millions of…displaced and fleeing Ukrainians, the still nationalistic American and British governments Biden and Johnson and their supporters in NATO and here in Europe would stop this time and really care so much?! Now within this still ongoing primary US-UK project (that already started late 1990’s and was accelerated by US Bush and UK Blair administrations from 2001’s) of their still egocentric nationalistic doctrines and projects (like recently AUKUS).

Those who did keep a more broader objective view then and now understood what happened…and what the main cause was then and still is now…learned the lessons from Europe’s own war-rich history and also from these recent projects, would never follow our EU leaders decision so supportive and gullibly into another (proxy)war as has happened now…again…

The EU took the wrong turn..

(In het Nederlands)

Update: The attack on Ukraine unfortunately also took place… Putin apparently saw after the talks no hope for an inclusive European solution (that’s what Russia was asking for!!) and the need to perpetuate the Russian red lines again that he had been pointing at for so long… and explained the reasons for that. Horrible for the Ukrainian civilians and soldiers, but also Russian soldiers and civilians. And that after the great human tragedies in Afghanistan and especially Iraq and region and world!!! (the US, UK, NATO and supporters here were apparently for more reasons in a rush now!!).
No lessons learned?!?! Because too many also apparently did not learn the lessons of those wrong nationalistic projects or quickly forgot them, it seems that also my over 40 years (life)mission has failed. Thank you also on behalf of so many Europeans…unfortunately a minority, also within politics and fellow experts…who did remember, correctly understood and continued to apply these painfully learned historical European lessons and therefore recent lessons… and so wanted like me an inclusive and undivided Europe!!! But too many…part loyal gullible but also bad collaborators
and most because of the huge amount of propaganda and disinformation right here with and towards us and effects of mass formation and hysteria, now think that the failure of this all and this horrific proxy war in Ukraine is the fault of only Russia and even only this devilish Putin himself!!! They should know

So the end of the EUropean dream!!! And not NATO but the EU now brain death!! Or is it not still…?! I still hold out a tiny bit of hope…a tiny bit…

Sorry to tell you..the EUropean dream has come to an end..

The EU took a wrong turn last week. The majority decided to remains part of Pax Americana..meaning divided and controlled. That means it will get weaker and I expect also breaking up further..

Because if you do not create a solid foundation under your own building but lean on another building next to yours, your building will collapse in even a light storm, if the owner of that other building will reduce its support to your building out of self-interest (and they probably will do one day…). And by using this construction, you are already creating a strong wind at your building..

And so Europe is divided again by a new iron curtain that will increasingly take shape in the coming years. So we are back in the old days before 1989, the days of the “old” Cold War. Which actually never really stopped in certain political capitals and too many heads. For a time to which too many (former)politicians and think-tankers still look back with positive nostalgia.

So life in the EU will get tougher in the coming decades, given the increasingly tough geopolitical and geoeconomic battle for influence in the world and for a larger share of the wealth. Poorer people want their share too. Creating more wealth is becoming increasingly difficult now that the earth is exhausted and climate change requires reduction. And we have it in abundance. But protect it badly. So less prosperity and less well-being for EUropeans.. sad future.. own fault!!

Sadly recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk was a logical next step of Russia to take when an inclusive undivided European solution and vision was constantly torpedoed by US, UK, NATO and (EU) allies. Despite efforts by Germans new chancellor Scholz and especially by the French president Macron!! Besides sanctions against Russia will not help at all!! I explained in this thread on Twitter..

So it was the EU, the real centre and goal of this conflict, who faced a fundamental choice!! Remain part of Pax Americana, divided and controlled in a divided Europe, as USA, UK and supporters want?! Or an autonomous Pax EUropaea, of which Ukraine, Belarus and Russia also become part?!

Sadly, the majority of the leaders of the EU took the wrong turn. They want to remain being part of Pax Americana. The moment of the “The EU now faces..” in the title of a former blog post is past now…

As an EUropean Dutch polemologist I chose for an autonomous Pax EUropaea and an undivided Europe. I defended that vision for 27 years now.. but I lost last week. Sadly Merkel left office. She kept earlier attempts (like in March 2021) of the US, UK, NATO and their supporters within the EU down and gave hope for an inclusive European future.

She left and they took their chance. Putin’s Russia then put them on the spot but they flatly refused to come to an inclusive European solution. As Putin likes(ed) it to.. also his vision from 2010. Only the French president Macron made still an real attempt into this direction but lost the battle without the direct support of Merkel and with the new German chancellor Scholz still too weak and unexperienced.

The cynical thing is that by offering that, Russia would not be appeased, but rather put in front of the bloc itself. Do you want Putin’s vision or not? If so, develop and implement a vision, towards an inclusive and undivided Europe. If not, and not for relevant reasons, we know that your intentions are probably not positive. That is also why I am completely convinced that the US, UK, NATO and their supporters in the EU absolutely did not want this. Also without Putin. Not even if Russia had been a democracy.

Russia does/(did) not want this situation at all..as it also fears neighbour China! Therefore Putin’s vision in 2010 for creating first a EU-Russia free trade zone and even joining EU!!! This proposal repeated by Merkel in 2015 as peace gesture!! But well.. too many EU politicians, journalists and colleagues prefer to believe our power and economic competi… uuhh… allies who were and are vehemently against this vision!!

In authoritarian one-party state China, Xi Jinping and the regime look on with satisfaction. The EU again divided and controlled by the US.. weakened.. will further weaken and disintegrate!! And Russia, fearing for China and resisting, is being pressed more firmly into their sphere of influence and will soon have lost Siberia.. as the Chinese regime is looking for much more lebensraum…

So end of the story of the EUropean dream..
So end of a strong(er) more autonomous EU..
So end of the EU..?!
Future will tell.. but I am not hopeful..

Former US president Trump had warned us in a way.. in all his bluntness but irreverent openness sometimes. Told what he thought of the EU. And the Republicans and Democrats think the same about the EU!! But our EU politicians and experts were far too busy with their obsession with Putin and their underestimation of the corona pandemic..

More recently, we as EU received another clear warning about this anti-EU power politics from the US and it’s close allies..AUKUS!! But people here liked to mock president Macron and France more than to see the real implications for the EU itself. I already saw the problem..

And I have been proved right in recent weeks!! Unfortunately…

Talking about this kind of deception, propaganda and disinformation of these two allies, the US and UK… in 2003!! With very deadly destructive impact in Iraq, region, EU and world..
Hundreds of thousands death and wounded, many killed and wounded soldiers of our own, major refugees and migration flows, IS, terror, failed democratic rise, failed states, North Korea and Iran’s nuclear weapons problem, loss of own credibility, etc.)..
And still..many seem already to have forgotten. Just as they have apparently forgotten other lessons from our European past!!

So who was really firing up the conflict with Russia around Ukraine?!
I know.. I warned.. but the propaganda and disinformation was to great and extensive. So unfortunately most still think differently.. see Putin’s Russia as the main guilty one.. even too many of my colleagues.

So, sadly too, many still think that nothing has changed. The EU can go on as before. Can get more autonomous. Enlarge. They are wrong!! And they are going to feel it.. painfully.. as the wrong turn has been taken. The EU project is over. It will be something of the past soon. So get used to it. It’s going to be a tough ride…

And our EU politicians also thank you on behalf of our, Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian children by the way ..who.. just like Putin turns out, if you had believed and trusted him and not his (and our) opponents.. also saw their future within an inclusive undivided EUropa!!

No no not so…na-na-na-na-na!!!!

Peace Plan War Ukraine

Latest update: 26-11-2022
– Additions. The core values of democracy, rule of law and fundamental rights are fundamental within the EU. Authoritarian alternates will not be tolerated for sake of peace. And no veto right in vote of accession of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
– Introduction of my proposed Organisation for Democratic Constitutional States – ODCS as successor for NATO.
– The proposed new border also involves the Oskil river.

My original peace plan was from before the ugly and (again) disastrous proxy war in Ukraine broke out. After the in my opinion deliberately provoked high strategic red line of Russia in Ukraine by the nationalistic US&UK governments and their collaborators&sympathisers in NATO and the EU. Unfortunately…and I cannot like this either…Russia, after having put them against the wall one time more, then proceeded to attack Ukraine to maintain that red line. And the horrific proxy war followed has been going on for several months now.

Although the propaganda storyline of the US and UK and their sympathisers is starting to sink through the ice and also perpetrator UK PM Boris Johnson and supporter Australian PM Scott Morrison are exit it is still very unclear when and where the fighting will stop for a first peace attempt by probably French president Macron. Nationalist and primary perpetrator US President Joe Biden and remaining collaborators&sympathisers and too many faithful gullibles seem to want to continue the proxy war for now. Until then, it is difficult to indicate now what a peace plan should look like. Except that this nationalist project MUST fail and both Russia and Belarus besides Ukraine are also part of an European collective future. So working on an adapted version.

My peace plan proposal to end this ugly…now…proxy war in Ukraine in our Europe. A war between two European people and countries, provoked by non-Europeans and their sympathisers within NATO and EU, that must end as soon as possible..!! An ugly proxy war in Ukraine in Europe with..again..disastrous consequences for the country, region and world. We saw it before with the other flawed nationalist projects by those involved. But too many did not learn the lessons.. Time to wake up and act!!
(Strikethrough are parts of the version before the conflict deliberately escalated…there may be notes on this in italics.)

Ukraine will only become a member of NATO when Belarus and Russia become members of the reformed NATO too. (The already ‘brain death’ NATO…president Macron was right on that…took the wrong turn by supporting again this faulty nationalistic project of the US, UK and its sympathisers after Afghanistan and Iraq. Probably thinking to become relevant again. And in that sense, it will have no future, especially not for EU security, which it turned against with this choice. Unfortunately, it could have been so different if one sees my old peace plan. My proposed successor NATO is Organisation for Democratic Constitutional States – ODCS)

The main point of the peace plan after after the peace settlement in the war in Ukraine and democratic, judicial, economic and military reforms in the countries is the guarantee of EU membership for Ukraine, Russia and Belarus before 2045 (example my vision EU 2045), when we remember and celebrate 100 years after the end of the horrific World War 2 in Europe and the start of the EUropean Dream of a future common and undivided Europa…now brutally disrupted.

Also NATO will be dismantled. The EU will get its own security organisation and structure (example my EDU vision). In addition to the UN, other regional security structures may arise between countries and power blocs in the world.

FM_9hfcWQAITBF9

The loss of Oblast Crimea will have to be accepted as a consequence of the confusing nationalistic coup in Ukraine in 2014 and the wider anti-Russia and anti-EU policy of that time.

Map_of_the_Crimea

But this and the lifting of severe sanctions against Russia only when the other part of Eastern Ukraine occupied by Russia and by her supported rebels completely returns under Ukraine authority. The Oblasts Luhansk and Donetsk and part of Kharkiv (in west bordered by parts of the Seversky Donets and Oskil river) and parts of Zaporizhia and Kherson (bordered by the Dnipro River) will also become part of Russia. Clear borders that can be monitored and enforced are necessary for the time being after ending the war. So some cities along the Oskil and Dnipro rivers will be divided as a result. These will become cities of peace and may merge again in the future after border corrections when the relations get better after further integration within the EU. UN observers and possibly also UN troops will be stationed along the new borders for a period of time.

Peace Plan

Not the best solution seeing the situation before 2014 and the old peace plan. But after the by the US, UK and sympathisers in NATO and EU deliberately provoked conflict with Russia over it’s strategic red line in Ukraine into an ugly and disastrous proxy war, handing these Ukraine territory back again to Ukraine will unfortunately for sure no longer be an acceptable option for Russia in any peace talks or proposals. Continuing this war to conquer and annex even more Ukraine territory as is probably its end-goal now, will then be preferred by now deeply embittered Russia.

War Ukraine A&B&C

So in order to prevent that end-state (in my opinion already accepted by the US and UK and close sympathisers before the provocation) and to end this ugly disastrous proxy war as soon as possible, sadly Ukraine will have to make territorial concessions. In my opinion any suggestion at this stage of this larger conflict of a full return of by Russia occupied and annexed Ukrainian territory to Ukraine is or malicious or totally naive.

Russia must give up it’s direct and also military support…and ending stationing of it’s troops there…to Transnistria. Which in a larger deal with Moldavia and Romania will then become part of Ukraine.

Transnistria_in_Europe_(zoomed).svg

There will no longer be any attempt to identify and punish a primary perpetrator of this grim conflict. In view of the complexity of the conflict and the aim of turning this situation around as soon as possible towards a positive and peaceful development for the countries and their peoples involved towards European unity within a larger EU. In line with the European dream as learnt from the painfully acquired lessons after the devastating and horrific Second World War.

It should be clear that within this new European unity within a larger EU from Lisbon to Vladivostok, democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights are the core values. So that will have to become the norm in all new member states. So there is no toleration of existing authoritarian alternatives within this peace plan. The accession of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia to the EU does not require unanimity of existing member states. So a veto of 1 cannot prevent it.
(Peace and reconciliation are more important than justice at this time. Unfortunately, international law has been used so arbitrarily and selectively in recent decades to prosecute and try people that the focus on it now works against rather than helping end conflicts and get peace. Unfortunately for the victims who are also rightly demanding justice. First the system will have to become more structurally balanced.)

Saint-Lo-989x1024

Russia pays compensation to Ukraine for the annexation of the named oblasts and the lose of Ukraine military and civilian assets because of that. This may be in the form of supply of gas, oil, raw materials and other products for a period of time. All connections like gas and oil pipelines with the rest of Europe and EU are restored. New joint renewable energy projects are being launched. All to re-establish inter-European relationships and reinforce mutual cooperation and interdependence.

Russia will also have to give openness and cooperation to the investigation of the MH17 disaster and it’s legal consequences (paying compensation) and the missile fired on Gori in Georgia in 2008 that killed and wounded several civilians including a Dutch cameraman.

298-mensen-kwamen-om-bij-de-vliegramp-onder-wie-vijftig-Brabanders

Without these steps, ample and far-reaching harsh EU and international sanctions against Russia remain in place. There will be still no normalisation of the diplomatic and economic relationship between the EU ,NATO and Russia and both NATO and the EU will continue the process towards NATO and EU membership of only Ukraine.

Link unbalanced foreign (economic) policy and radicalization

(In het Nederlands)

It makes you as an open champion of the democratic constitutional state .. with its typical core values … I think totally unbelievable if you are then friends and act with dictatorships, with states and regimes that do not even basically endorse the core values of your own system. Who should have nothing to do with freedoms and human rights, democracy and the rule of law. How sincerely do you (still) believe in it yourself?

logical-critical-thinking-skills-

I think that is exactly what many (young) Muslim intellectuals see in the (Western) world. And why more and more of them no longer see democracy and its characteristic constitutional state and freedoms as a serious alternative to the dictatorship in which they live and / or which they want to fight and replace with something more just. To do something about the great poverty, hopelessness, unemployment, injustice and especially corruption in these countries. If Western democracies and politicians demonstrably do not take the core values of their own system seriously, and in addition to this moral also ordinary corruption is so well visible there, these intellectuals will soon suspect them of other agendas. Conspiracy theories are born.

2db2758b-38e5-4d42-8b7e-0abe6a4983d9

As communism has lost a lot of popularity as an alternative in the last decades, more and more of them are starting to rely on their faith. And if possible, most pure and basic..in their eyes not corrupting..fundamentalistic form. And these intellectuals drag their less intellectual brothers into this liberation ideology or know how to convert them. Where penance for their sinful Western lifestyle, sexual orientation, criminal activities or hopelessness and disruption often forms an extra incentive for conversion and ambition for struggle and martyrdom.

mubarak-obama

If we as Western democratic constitutional states apparently do not even adhere to the core values of our own system and apply them in our foreign (economic) policy … well then trying to get the breeding ground of radical groups such as IS and AQ and other fundamentalist (religious) ideological movements is to try to empty the ocean with a thimble. I think that will not work. And that is what I see happening now. In the West, democracy and freedom are still being preached as the highest and globally valid ideology, while elsewhere it is increasingly seen differently.

fefxic3xoaqsmqi

I think Egypt is a good example of all this. Where for decades we saw a dictatorship as a friend and trading partner and treated it as such. There was no question of any positive effect of our raised finger regarding human rights violations and lack of democracy in Egypt. After an Arab spring that was also sudden and “shocking” for the western leaders, they supported for a moment, albeit somewhat uncomfortable and awkward, a democratically elected Morsi government. A moment later … after it was quickly deposed again through an orchestrated “uprising” by the old regime … that never really disappeared, nor wished to surrender its position and wealth in honour and glory of people and democracy … our leaders continued to be friends and trade with this old “new” dictatorial regime.

I find this attitude of the West typical … and I think it is oh so well in the picture of many Muslim youth and intellectuals … and with that a powerful breeding ground for IS and Al Qaeda. Then the Israeli-Palestinian conflict … and the “tolerant” attitude of the West has has not yet been addressed. Or the dictatorial Islamic kingdoms in the Gulf region that are supported by the West and called friends and allies. Or the invasion of states on the basis of manufactured “evidence” (Afghanistan 2001 and Iraq 2003). In the eyes of the radical ideologists, it is no coincidence that these countries lie in the Islamic world. The “proof” for the correctness of one’s own view, ideology and conspiracy theory.

IMG_5851.jpg
fefxlmcxeawa9um

So anyone who apparently does not take the core values of their own system seriously … among other things in their foreign (economic) policy … should not expect others to see that system as an ideal solution and a leading example for their fight against injustice and corruption that they see in their world and want to change. That if the West is always propagating this is not only unbelievable I think, but it is also becoming laughable. Anyone who finds the democratic constitutional state and its freedoms the ideal solution against injustice in the world will then first have to apply these core values themselves. Also in their foreign (economic) policy!
